About this camp

The Berkeley Coding Academy's "Data Science - The AI Journey" is a comprehensive online summer program designed to transform students into practicing data scientists. Participants will master Python programming, learn to build and evaluate machine learning models, and create compelling data visualizations using real datasets. The curriculum emphasizes a code-first approach to understanding AI, covering essential libraries like NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib, Seaborn, Scikit-learn, and Keras (TensorFlow). Students will engage in interactive lectures, collaborative cohort sessions, and develop significant projects, with opportunities for one-on-one support. The program aims to equip students with highly valuable skills for a future in Data Science and AI, culminating in an impressive portfolio project and a certificate of completion.

What a typical day looks like

Students start the day with interactive lectures to learn new concepts and model code, followed by applying what they learn through projects in small cohorts. Long coding days are divided by bonus time and break time, with bonus time offering opportunities for students to connect and have fun outside of coding.

Best suited for

This program is best for motivated middle and high school students (ages 12-18, with advanced 11-year-olds considered) who are curious about AI and data science, whether they are complete beginners or have prior Python experience.
