About this camp

The Berkeley Engineering Youth Academy (BEYA) is an intensive hybrid pre-college program designed for high school students aged 15-17 with an interest in STEM fields. The program combines 7.5 hours of online instruction with three weeks of in-person learning at UC Berkeley's College of Engineering. Students gain practical experience in engineering design processes through lectures and hands-on laboratory sessions. Key activities include designing and printing 3D models, coding and operating robots, and engaging in projects related to robotics, design, and additive manufacturing. The curriculum covers topics such as Introduction to Design, Fusion 360, and 3D Printing. Participants will also experience college life by living in campus dorms, dining at Cal cafeterias, and interacting with UC Berkeley students. The program includes visits to Berkeley student labs and Silicon Valley companies, culminating in a showcase of student-built prototypes.
