This is a paid internship program where high school students work directly on cutting-edge research projects with Berkeley Lab experts.
Berkeley Lab's Experiences in Research (EinR) is a six-week paid summer internship program designed for high school students to engage in advanced STEM research. Interns work directly with professionals at Berkeley Lab on cutting-edge projects, gaining hands-on experience in various STEM and STEM-adjacent fields. Projects are focused around areas such as administration, science communication, data science (coding and non-coding), and experimental research and data collection. Students have the opportunity to express their interests and project preferences during the application process, allowing them to develop skills in their chosen field. The program aims to help students form connections with Berkeley Lab mentors, build professional skills relevant to higher education and STEM careers, and gain experience in science communication and collaboration. Interns are expected to complete an independent project, fostering their ability to manage long-term tasks.
Interns work approximately 30-35 hours per week, which includes 5-10 hours of meetings, workshops, and career talks, and approximately 20 hours of independent work or collaboration with project partners.
This program is ideal for current 10th, 11th, and 12th-grade high school students in Northern California with some experience in independent work and an interest in pursuing STEM careers.

All program details — including pricing, session dates, instructor credentials, curriculum, safety policies, refund terms, transportation, meal arrangements, and admission requirements — are sourced from publicly available information and may be incomplete, outdated, or incorrect. Listings are partially generated and updated using automated AI-assisted research, which can occasionally produce inaccurate details.
