The Girls in Engineering (GIE) Summer Camp at UC Santa Cruz is a free, 5-day non-residential program designed to broaden middle school girls' interest in computer science and engineering through hands-on projects. Participants will learn Scratch programming to create 2D games and animations, program Sphero robots using smartphones, and build microprocessor-based robots and interactive art pieces using Lego-NXT. The camp also includes tours of Baskin Engineering labs, covering areas from Bioengineering to Digital Games, and offers opportunities to explore the UCSC campus and learn about college life and STEM career paths.
