The SVCSI Summer Research Camp offers high school students a unique opportunity to engage in team-based cybersecurity research projects under the guidance of distinguished faculty mentors. Participants gain hands-on experience in advanced security topics, working in teams of 2-3 members. The program emphasizes close, one-on-one mentorship, fostering a valuable experience that strengthens future academic and career opportunities in cybersecurity. Students will develop a technical report as a final outcome, with opportunities for some to publish their work in IEEE conferences. The camp aims to provide practical experience in areas such as technology and data science, allowing students to explore academic research in a structured environment. Since 2020, SVCSI has hosted this annual camp, with over 100 students participating and many achieving publication.
The typical training time for groups will be 3-5 p.m. PST for the first two weeks, focusing on research projects for the last three weeks. Group and individual meetings, each lasting 2-3 hours, will be set up by faculty mentors between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.
