About this camp

The UC Berkeley Engineering Summer Machine-learning & AI Research Training (BeSMART) is a two-week residential program designed for high school students. It aims to bridge the gap between theoretical AI knowledge and practical application, focusing on Agentic AI systems that analyze data, make predictions, and drive decisions. Participants will gain foundational skills in Python programming, data analytics, machine learning algorithms, and advanced applications through a combination of lectures and hands-on lab sessions. Students will work with real datasets and apply their new skills to a final project of their own interest. The program also offers a taste of college life, with students living in campus dorms, dining at Cal cafeterias, and interacting with UC Berkeley undergraduate and graduate students. Opportunities for visits to Berkeley student labs and Silicon Valley companies are also included.
