The EinR (Experiences in Research) Internship at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory is a six-week paid summer program for high school students. Interns work in small teams under the guidance of Berkeley Lab mentors on cutting-edge projects in STEM and STEM-adjacent fields. Project areas include experimental research, data analysis, coding, science communication, and administrative support. Students gain hands-on experience, build professional skills relevant to higher education and STEM careers, and develop their abilities in science communication and collaboration. The program aims to provide an interdisciplinary and independent research experience, fostering connections with mentors and peers. Interns will also participate in professional development workshops and career talks.
Interns are expected to work approximately 30-35 hours per week, which includes 5-10 hours of meetings, workshops, and career talks, and about 20 hours of independent work and/or collaboration with project partners.
This program is ideal for current sophomores, juniors, and seniors (at least 16 years old by June 15, 2026) enrolled in public high schools within Alameda, Contra Costa, and San Francisco Counties, who have some experience in independent work and an interest in STEM careers.
